Horizon Europe NCP Virtual Campus Qualifications explained

The NCP portal, through its twofold goal of strengthening and professionalising the NCP ecosystem capacities and increasing the quality of proposals submitted to the Horizon Europe funding program, holds a multitude of activities and resources made available by and for the NCP community. An example of these resources is the growing collection of e-learning courses offered by the NCP Virtual Campus. These courses cover a wide range of topics relevant to the NCP community and potential participants and beneficiaries. The structure of these courses usually includes an introductory section, several modules focused on content with videos and complementary material,  and one or more quizzes to test the acquired knowledge, plus an additional feedback activity.

In order to endorse the knowledge acquired by the learners, the NCP Virtual Campus offers a badge system that allows e-learning course participants to obtain a badge at the completion of each course, to visualize their accomplishment. The system has been designed to cover both mono-thematic and multi-thematic courses and it offers three types of badges corresponding to their performance qualification obtained during the course:

• Basic badge: for those participants who have completed all activities and achieved at least 50% of correct answers in all quizzes. For multi-thematic courses, participants should have gotten at least 50% correct answers in all quizzes of mandatory modules and complete at least one of the thematic modules.
• Silver badge: for those participants that have got the basic badge and achieved at least 70% of correct answers in all quizzes. For multi-thematic courses, participants should have gotten at least 70% correct answers in all quizzes of mandatory modules and complete at least one of the thematic modules.
• Golden badge: participants who have obtained the silver badge will get an extra activity to complete at the end of the course, requiring consultation of external documentation.

Once obtained, these badges are sent to the course’s participants by email and also appear on the user profile page. They could be used for further purposes, such as a justification for knowledge acquired or for working hours dedication.
