Record-breaking interest in the EIC Transition Call 2025

The European Innovation Council has received an unprecedented 611 proposals for the EIC Transition call, which closed on 17 September 2025 — the highest number ever recorded.

The EIC Transition supports the maturation and validation of breakthrough technologies stemming from EIC Pathfinder, FET, or ERC Proof of Concept projects — helping them move closer to market. Projects can receive up to €2.5 million in funding. The EIC Transition Open call has no predefined thematic priorities and is open to proposals across all fields of science, technology, and application.

Applications came from 40 countries, with the largest share from Italy, Germany, Spain, and France.

Breakdown of applicants:

51% from private companies
27% from universities
17% from research centers

Interviews: 1–5 December 2025
Evaluation results: January 2026
Project start: May–June 2026

The next EIC Transition call will be announced in the 2026 Work Programme, expected in November.
