New Annotated Template Released to Guide EIC Pathfinder Open 2025 Applicants

Developed under the Access2EIC project, the guide is designed to demystify the application process and enhance the quality of submissions. It is part of a broader effort by the European Innovation Council (EIC) to empower National Contact Points (NCPs) and support visionary research teams working on disruptive, high-risk/high-gain technologies.
The annotated template mirrors the official EIC Pathfinder Open proposal format but includes added layers of insight:
- Blue text: Original proposal instructions from the European Commission.
- Yellow highlights: Expert recommendations from EIC NCPs.
- Light purple: “Tips & Tricks” from experienced proposal reviewers.
- Light blue: Strategic insights from Timo Hallantie, Head of Unit for the EIC Pathfinder program.
The guide emphasizes the importance of outlining a clear scientific vision, demonstrating how the project goes beyond the state of the art, and presenting a strong interdisciplinary approach. It also provides advice on articulating societal and economic impacts, innovation potential, and practical execution strategies.
Importantly, the examples included are illustrative, not prescriptive, offering applicants a clearer sense of what evaluators look for—without restricting creativity or originality.
