Biodiversa+
Biodiversa+ is the European biodiversity partnership supporting excellent research on biodiversity with an impact for policy and society. It was jointly developed by BiodivERsA and the European Commission as part of the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030.
Biodiversa+ will contribute to the ambition that by 2030, nature in Europe is back on a path of recovery, and that by 2050 people are living in harmony with Nature.
2025 – 2026 Joint Call
The fifth Biodiversa+ annual joint call for research will be on the topic of “Restoration of ecosystem functioning, integrity, and connectivity” (#BiodivConnect).
This call will be embedded in our Flagship Programme “Supporting biodiversity and ecosystem protection across land and sea”, which in the coming year will be updated to include the topic of biodiversity restoration.
Indicative timing
- Spring / Summer 2025: Pre-announcement of the call, with further information on its scope and the call process
- September 2025: Official launch of the BiodivConnect call
- November 2025: Deadline for the submission of pre-proposals

Funding dimension of projects |
The aim of the call is to fund medium size projects (with a total budget of typically 1.2-1.5M€ on average; but note that this constitutes an indication rather than a formal limit). The requested funding should be justified and relevant with regard to the work planned within the project. |

Biodiversa+ aims at supporting medium size research projects (average for Biodiversa+ funded project: 5 different countries per project) though this remains flexible. |
