European Citizens' Engagement in Social Challenges: New Report

The results of the online survey clearly show that European citizens want to be actively involved in solving social issues. However, significant obstacles also emerge, including widespread distrust in public institutions and low awareness of access to decision-making processes. 

Despite a strong desire to participate, many citizens struggle to find effective channels to make their voices heard. The lack of trust in institutions and the perception of limited access to decision-making processes are major barriers that hinder effective public participation. 

This finding highlights the importance of creating initiatives that foster collaboration and a sense of belonging, which are key elements in encouraging civic participation. 

In light of these results, it is essential for public institutions to work on strengthening citizens' trust and improving transparency and accessibility in decision-making processes. Creating more inclusive engagement opportunities and promoting a culture of active participation could be a crucial step in addressing social challenges more effectively and collaboratively.
