Funding opportunity for Local Innovation Hubs (LIHs) to develop circular and sustainable food systems in Africa through aquaponics, hydroponics, and insect farming.

Specific topics or challenges: Proposals should address at least one of the following areas:

Aquaponics & Aquaculture: Fish farming combined with plant cultivation for resource-efficient food production.
Hydroponics & Bioponics: Soil-free agriculture optimizing water use and plant nutrition.
Insect Farming: Sustainable protein production using species like Black Soldier Fly.
Other topics: Snail or rabbit farming, waste valorisation, and local pest management solutions.

Projects duration: Each funded project will run for 12 months.

Budget, funding rates and payment conditions:
Funding rate: 100% of eligible costs.
Budget conditions/limitations: €117,500 per winning LIH consortium.
Payments:
- 40% upfront (after project setup).
- 40% after demonstration phase (Month 10).
- 20% upon completion and exploitation report (Month 12).
