11 EU-India co-funded calls under Horizon Europe

The European Union has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of India through the Department of Science & Technology, Department of Biotechnology and the Ministry of Earth Sciences to join forces to address global challenges and achieve climate neutrality.

In fact, 11 Horizon Europe calls, 6 of which are currently open for proposals, will be co-funded by the Government of India to successful Indian institutions.

The calls of proposals have been published on 7 December and can be viewed and downloaded on the EU Funding and Tenders Portal.

The Co-Funding Mechanism (CFM) is seen in the context of the EU-India Agreement on Science and Technology, the overall EU-India Strategic Partnership, of which cooperation in research and development is an integral part.

Co-funding by the Government of India will enable joint research in several areas of mutual interest to address global challenges in health, digital technologies, climate change, circular economy, clean energy, agri-tech and climate change. Indian research organisations, universities, researchers, innovative companies and SMEs can apply for funding through the Horizon Europe call for proposals. Participation and funding of Indian entities to comply with the terms and conditions applicable by the respective Indian funding agencies and as per their regulations, as published on their website:

To note that the co-funding applies only to the calls specifically earmarked by the Government of India and listed here.

At this regard, the Join EU-India Horizon Europe Brokerage Events from 2nd to 21st of February, organized by the the Delegation of the European Union to India and EURAXESS India in association with Government of India (Department of Science & Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) is a five virtual brokerage events fora which aims at providing i) first-hand information on call scope & impact and modalities of cofunding by experts ii) to provide a platform to meet potential partners from Europe and India and start building your consortium (flash presentations).
