The European Commission launched a call for applications to select organisations as additional members of the aviation formation within the Commission expert group on climate change policy. The call is open until 21 March 2025.

The group will assist the Commission in implementing amendments related to the aviation sector's role in achieving the EU's emission reduction targets and ensuring the effective application of a global market-based measure.

In particular, its work will address key issues such as introducing a new support mechanism to accelerate the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), establishing a system to enable airlines to monitor, report, and verify non-CO2 aviation effects, and implementing the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).

The group currently includes representatives from national authorities and stakeholders, including industry associations, NGOs, and research institutes. With this new call, the Commission aims to further expand participation by involving additional actors from the sector.

Applications are open to:
•    Sector associations with EU-level representation;
•    NGOs, universities, and research institutes with experience in the aviation sector;
•    Companies operating in the aviation sector within the EU.

More information and the application form are available here.
