On 7 June the European Commission adopted a Communication on the new ‘Comprehensive approach to mental health’ initiative.

On 7 June the European Commission adopted a Communication on the new ‘Comprehensive approach to mental health’ initiative.

 

The Comprehensive approach to mental healthsets out:

 

  1. how action at EU level can help promote good mental health and prevent, mitigate and respond to mental health challenges
  2. how mental health considerations should be factored into a wide variety of EU and national policies for the benefit of people across the EU

 

Research and innovation helps to provide the evidence needed to build effective tools and policies to counter mental health-related challenges.

On the adoption of the Communication, a new fact sheet has been published, highlighting how research and innovation in the mental health field can benefit citizens, patients and society.

The fact sheet provides examples of cutting-edge EU-funded research and innovation projects that contribute to the five themes of – add the list of the five themes - under mental health.
